{"id":43777,"date":"2019-11-20T23:22:01","date_gmt":"2019-11-20T22:22:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/staging.rijeka2020.eu\/?p=43777"},"modified":"2019-12-01T23:23:43","modified_gmt":"2019-12-01T22:23:43","slug":"danish-artists-experts-and-chefs-arrive-in-rijeka","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ri2020.eu\/en\/danish-artists-experts-and-chefs-arrive-in-rijeka\/","title":{"rendered":"Danish artists, experts and chefs arrive in Rijeka"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Next week, the European Capital of Culture and the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark in Croatia will organise a lecture, exhibition and culinary workshop, as part of the collaboration between the city of Aarhus, Denmark, and Rijeka, the former and future European Capitals of Culture.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The programme will begin with a panel discussion, entitled\u00a0<strong>Retox: the Sustainable Design of Port Cities,<\/strong>\u00a0which will take place on\u00a0<strong>Thursday, 28 November at 5 p.m. at RiHub<\/strong>\u00a0(Ivana Grohovca 1) and will centre on Rijeka and the Danish city of Aarhus as port cities and European Capitals of Culture. The panel discussion will feature\u00a0<strong>Bente Lykke S\u00f8rensen and Gorana Stipe\u010d Brli\u0107,<\/strong>\u00a0who will share their know-how and expertise pertaining to the design of sustainable port cities.<\/p>\n<p>It should be noted that Bente Lykke S\u00f8rensen is the Director of Urban Development Planning and Affordable Housing in the City of Aarhus, the European Capital of Culture in 2017. At this year&#8217;s Retox, she will give a keynote speech on the sustainable development of modern cities and provide examples of good practice from Denmark.<br \/>\nGorana Stipe\u010d Brli\u0107 holds a professional degree in Architecture from the University of Ljubljana but resides in Rijeka. She is President of the Rijeka Architects&#8217; Association and the facilitator of the <u>Rijeka Architects&#8217; Association&#8217;s<\/u>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/drustvoarhitekatarijeka\/\">Youth Section<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The panel discussion will be held in English, with free admission.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The panel is part of the Retox programme of the European Capital of Culture that addresses topics regarding good civil and environmental practices, such as socially-sensitive, inclusive, progressive, innovative and practical initiatives and campaigns through discussion. The Retox discussions at RiHub provide the citizens with a platform for networking and acquiring the practical and theoretical knowledge required for civil and environmental activism, with carefully selected mentors from Croatia and abroad.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-33885\" src=\"https:\/\/rijeka2020.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/RIJEKA-AARCHUS_EXHIBITION.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"628\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>The workshop held by the Danish chef Simon Clemens,<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>in cooperation with Placa 51 and KuHarmonija,<\/strong>is scheduled for the following day on\u00a0<strong>Friday, 29 November at 2 p.m.<\/strong>This is a\u00a0<strong>masterclass in making sourdough bread, entitled Sour Bread \u2013 the Pinnacle of Organic Food, which will be held at Kuharmonija (Verdijeva 11) and Placa 51 (Riva Boduli 3a, Rijeka)<\/strong>. The masterclass is organised by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark in Croatia in cooperation with Placa 51, Kuharmonija and Simon Clemens.<\/p>\n<p>Attendees will try their hand at baking various types of sourdough bread and find out what they taste like and how to combine them with traditional Croatian and Danish recipes. The masterclass, which will also be held in English, is already full.<\/p>\n<p>Following the panel discussion, on\u00a0<strong>Friday, 29 November, at 7 p.m.<\/strong>, an exhibition\u00a0<strong>entitled The Process \u2013 United in Diversity Rijeka HR\/\u00c5rhus DK will open at Delta 5 (ex-Ivex) at the recently opened Deltalab 001 exhibition area in the building where the programme of the European Capital of Culture is created.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is an exhibition of works by\u00a0<strong>contemporary visual artists from Aarhus and Rijeka<\/strong>. Different generations of artists, such as\u00a0<strong>Else Ploug Isaksen, Bodil Sohn and Kim Gr\u00f8nborg from Aarhus, along with Petra Mr\u0161a, Dalibor Laginja and Igor E\u0161kinja from Rijeka<\/strong>, who work with different media and explore different regions of the imagination, will be displaying their artwork. They all share one common thread that runs through this very situation and this very exhibition &#8211; the issue of mankind&#8217;s relationship with nature and the environment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Damir Halili\u0107 Hal,<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>a musician from Rijeka,<\/strong>\u00a0will join the exhibition opening and perform original music inspired by traditional Viking songs.
