{"id":43764,"date":"2019-11-06T23:06:20","date_gmt":"2019-11-06T22:06:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/staging.rijeka2020.eu\/?p=43764"},"modified":"2019-12-01T23:07:29","modified_gmt":"2019-12-01T22:07:29","slug":"presentation-of-european-capital-of-culture-rijeka-2020-in-stockholm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ri2020.eu\/en\/presentation-of-european-capital-of-culture-rijeka-2020-in-stockholm\/","title":{"rendered":"Presentation of European Capital of Culture \u2013 Rijeka 2020 in Stockholm"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Following an invitation from the Croatian Embassy in the Kingdom of Sweden and the Croatian National Tourist Office in Stockholm, the Director of the Partnership and Communication Sector at RIJEKA 2020, Irena Kregar \u0160egota, presented the European Capital of Culture programme to the media, travel agencies and cultural institutions in the Stockholm area today at Europe House, the office of the European Parliament in Stockholm.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At the beginning of the meeting,\u00a0<strong>Vedran Su\u0161i\u0107, Director of the Croatian National Tourist Office in Stockholm, addressed the audience with a welcome speech<\/strong>, while\u00a0<strong>Irena Kregar \u0160egota announced the Rijeka ECoC project and its three thematic segments: water, work and migration during the introduction. This was followed by an overview of the culture and arts programmes,<\/strong>\u00a0with highlights including the\u00a0<strong>large-scale Gustav Klimt exhibition \u201cUnknown Klimt \u2013 Love, Death, Ecstasy\u201d<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>the gala concert performances by the opera divas Karita Mattila and Elina Garan\u010da<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>a festival by the world-renowned theatre company Needcompany<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>a performance by the first-ever robot band Compressorhead<\/strong>\u00a0and much more. The attendees were also shown the eye-catching\u00a0<strong>promo video \u201cPort of Diversity\u201d<\/strong>,\u00a0directed by Dalibor Matani\u0107, which portrays Rijeka as a meeting place for diversity, open-mindedness and freedom.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-33510\" src=\"https:\/\/rijeka2020.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Predstavljanje-u-Stockholmu-Irena-Kregar-%C5%A0egota.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1560\" height=\"1170\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In addition to the programme announcement,\u00a0<strong>the Lungomare Art exhibition was held as part of the eponymous flagship. The exhibition showcases the formation of the Kvarner culture and tourism route, which consists of permanent sculptures made by European and globally renowned artists.<\/strong>\u00a0The sculptures will be placed at 10 locations around Kvarner in order to form a new culture and tourism route as part of the European Capital of Culture programme.
