<\/p>\nAuthorial Boras (Autorske bure) is a collection of short stories written by renowned authors from Croatia and the region, who spent a month of Springtime 2018 in various locations of Kvarner writing sixteen short stories that became part of a collection of short stories published by Rijeka 2020 and V.B.Z., designed by Studio Sonda and edited by Kruno Lokotar.<\/p>\n

\u201cWelcome to the Fishscale Cathedral\u201d<\/p>\n
, was the opening line of Rijeka\u2019s Mayor\u00a0Vojko Obersnel<\/strong>\u00a0at the event, borrowing the title of one of the stories, by Faruk \u0160ehi\u0107 who drew his writing inspiration exactly from the Rijeka fish market.<\/p>\n \u201cThe day officially marking the beginning of the Rijeka 2020 – European Capital of Culture project is racing towards us, and we are in for a treat of more than 600 programmes for all of us to enjoy, so I believe the fish market will get to host a few more events like this one.\u201d, Obersnel said.<\/p>\n The CEO of Rijeka 2020\u00a0Emina Vi\u0161ni\u0107<\/strong>\u00a0said that the fact that this collection of short stories was created by top authors, and that the stories were influenced by the communities the authors resided in, and by their conversations with locals serves as an indicator that the ECoC project wants to become deeply ingrained into the community.<\/p>\n \u201cThis collection is a lasting legacy of the project, as are the sculptures that will be installed throughout Kvarner under the Lungomare Art flagship, which will be announced in the near future.\u201d, Vi\u0161ni\u0107 said.<\/p>\n Visitors were also welcomed by\u00a0Sonja \u0160i\u0161i\u0107<\/strong>, Head of the Department of Culture, Sport and Technical Culture of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, who pointed out her belief that the cultural and natural riches of our region, along with its tradition and practices that the authors encountered at their respective locations were a great source of inspiration for them. She also said that the authors\u2019 works now remain a permanent legacy to these small communities, who can leverage the stories as a means of their further promotion.<\/p>\n The editor of Authorial Boras\u00a0Kruno Lokotar<\/strong>\u00a0expressed his conviction that this project has been an enriching experience for all the participating authors, as well as for all the communities where they resided.<\/p>\n \u201cThe new perspective, gained by all the local communities involved in this project, guarantees that they will never be the same again. This project was, among other things, our opportunity to showcase the heterogenous nature of our Port of Diversity, so I want to thank everyone who took part in it\u201d, Lokotar concluded.<\/p>\n The announcement of Authorial Boras attracted many visitors who could not hide their amazement, particularly at the new look of the fish market.<\/p>\n Fragments of the short prosaic texts from the collection were read by\u00a0students of the Acting and Media Studies department of the Academy of Applied Arts in Rijeka<\/strong>, followed by a performance by the\u00a0Marinada<\/strong> band, while the visual identity of the fish market in the form of video projections was the work of\u00a0VJ OBLIK 3<\/strong>\u00a0(Damjan \u0160por\u010di\u0107).<\/p>\n Authorial Boras came to be thanks to the participation of authors of the region, writing in \u201cBHSC\u201d languages: Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian and Montenegrin, while the programme selector was \u017deljka Horvat \u010ce\u010d.<\/p>\n The Rijeka fish market inspired Faruk \u0160ehi\u0107 to write a story entitled \u201cThe Fishscale Cathedral\u201d (Katedrala od riblje krlju\u0161ti), Dorta Jagi\u0107 created \u201cThe Secret of the Black Notebook\u201d (Tajna crnog notesa) in Volosko, and Milena Benini devised her \u201cForest Above the Sea\u201d (\u0160uma ponad mora) in Mo\u0161\u0107eni\u010dka Draga. Vladimir Arsentijevi\u0107 used Rijeka\u2019s beaches as a source of inspiration for his story \u201cSpirits of a Place\u201d (Duhovi mjesta), Lejla Kalamuji\u0107 wrote her \u201cOverhaul of Human Destinies\u201d (Remont ljudskih sudbina) in Kostrena, Nora Verde created her story \u201cThe Shark\u201d (Ajkula) in Bakar, while a bit further down the coastline, in Crikvenica Robert Peri\u0161i\u0107 wrote his story \u201cSay Hi to Car!\u201d (Pozdravi Cara!).<\/p>\n Enver Krivac went to Zebar which inspired his story \u201cIn the Ford\u201d (U Fordu), Edo Popovi\u0107 used Ba\u0161ka as a source of inspiration for his \u201cApril in Ba\u0161ka Valley\u201d (April u Ba\u0161\u0107anskoj dolini), while Asja Baki\u0107 spent her time in the neighbouring island of Rab, more precisely in Lopar which inspired her story \u201cThe Season\u201d (Sezona). Damir Karaka\u0161 was also a temporary resident of an island, the town of Cres inspired his story The Sea (More), while Tea Tuli\u0107 wrote her \u201cLady of \u010cikat\u201d (Dama iz \u010cikata) in Mali Lo\u0161inj.<\/p>\n Another story comes from Bekim Serjanovi\u0107, who wrote his \u201cMiss Misery\u201d during his residence on the island of Susak. Olja Savi\u010devi\u0107 Ivan\u010devi\u0107 wrote her story \u201cTramuntana\u201d during her residence in Filozi\u0107i (on the island of Cres), Zoran \u017dmiri\u0107 wrote his \u201cFlicker of Blue\u201d (Titraj plave boje) in Lovran, while Opatija\u2019s promenade \u201cLungomare\u201d inspired Josip Novakovi\u0107 to write his \u201cFlavour of the Sea\u201d (Okus mora).<\/p>\n At the promotion visitors were able to purchase Authorial Boras in two editions, the hardcover deluxe one, and the softcover edition.
